Kyrgyz-German Technical Institute

The Kyrgyz-German Technical Institute (KGTI) is one of the young and perspective institutes of the Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU).

The history of KGTI began with the Kyrgyz-German technical faculty (KGTF), which was established on July 20, 2004 on the basis of an intergovernmental agreement signed by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. The founders of KGTI are KSTU named after. I. Razzakov and the Boyt Technical Institute of Berlin (BHT Berlin).

At the beginning, in the Institute were fifty students on a budget form of training in two majors: "Electric Power ", "Technology, equipment and automation of machine-building industries". Since 2007, the preparation of bachelors in the "Telematics" and "Logistics" majors has begun.

In 2013, KGTF was transformed to KGTI. Active work has begun aimed at its development, expanding the range of educational services, opening new majors and specialties necessary for the development of the country's industry. Today, KGTI has three departments: "Mechanics and industrial engineering", "Telematics", "Logistics", which prepare highly qualified bachelors and masters of engineering and technology for the most important regional industries.

KGTI today has about seven hundred students, including the representatives of Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran and many others.

The deans who headed the Institute at the different stages of its development played an important role in the Institute development: Apyshev Zh.A. (2004-2006), Omuraliev U. K. (2006-2008), Ryspaev T. A. (2011-2014), associate professors: Chynybaev M. K. (2009-2010), Usupkozhoeva A. A. (2009-2011). Since 2014, the Director of KGTI is a candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Anipa Usupkozhoeva Abylbekovna.

In order to create a zone of European higher education in Kyrgyzstan, training at the Institute is conducted according to the Bologna system of education, which is aimed at an accelerating integration processes in the field of higher education. In accordance with the principles of the Bologna process, KGTI has introduced two educational levels: bachelors and master's degrees. The education created at the Institute allows graduates to quickly adapt to the requirements of practical activities and take leading positions in the field of machine-building production, energy, telematics, and logistics.

During the period of its existence, the Institute has been striving to develop international cooperation aimed at training highly qualified specialists. To KGTI students with good academic achievements are given the opportunity to undergo training internships, summer schools at the Boyt Technical Institute in Berlin in the majors of "Power Engineering", "Mechanical Engineering" and at the Keln Institute of Applied Sciences in the "Telematics" major. In addition, students can continue their studies in Germany with the support of our partner institutions. Over the years of its existence, more than 150 students have completed training internships and summer schools in Germany. Today, KGTI graduates who continued their studies in Germany work at the leading industrial enterprises in Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and other countries of the near and far abroad.

In order to attract applicants to enter to KGTI, summer schools are organized not only in Germany, but also at the KSTU. The main task of the summer school is to inform schoolchildren who are learning German as a foreign language about the available specialties in KGTI. The summer school offers classes in the following subjects: mathematics, computer science, and German. For the first time in 2013, a summer school was organized for German students. Within the framework of this summer school, students from Germany had the opportunity to conduct educational and familiarization practices in Toktogul and Kambar-Ata Hydroelectric Power Stations, as well as spend time with KGTI students in Issyk — Kul. The results of the summer schools showed that cultural ties between Kyrgyz and German students are expanding, which will continue regardless of political changes.

Prominent scientists from both the Kyrgyz and German sides are actively involved in the educational process to improve the quality of graduate training. Highly qualified specialists who have been trained and retrained in leading Universities and Research Institutes of the near and far abroad represent the staff of the Institute. During the Institute's existence, more than 50 students have completed internships in German Universities.

The exchange of students and staff is carried out with the help of the annual DAAD grant, which provides for the intensive development of relations with partners. Due to the support of DAAD, a grant for the amount of 40 thousand euros was received by DAAD fellows R. Botpaev, K. Muktarbek in order to purchase equipment for the departments of "Engineering Technology", "Alternative Energy Sources". Thus, Karl Zeiss microscope was purchased for the casting and metallographic analysis laboratory, as well as a laboratory bench for Renewable Energy Sources. In addition, the KGTI classrooms are equipped with the modern multimedia equipment, and the laboratories of the Telematics Department are equipped with modern devices. With the German Embassy support it was received about 400 copies of educational literature in German.

A significant contribution from the German side to the development of KGTI was made by: ex-vice-president for development and international relations, Mrs. G. Gerlitz, head of the international department, Mr. Borchert K., professors: Kleinshrodt, T. Hüns, Foihoff, Hambreht, M. Salyayn, Hernig, Marginitz of the Department of the Boyt Technical University of Berlin and Professor Bongards M. of the Keln Institute of Applied Sciences, representatives of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, heads of the DAAD center: G. Zimmermann, J. Dummler, DAAD lecturers: H. Dinter, E. Knispel and many others.

In the future, KGTI is planning to expand the range of its educational services, to open new majors and specialties that are necessary for the development of industry in our Republic. The management of the Institute and the entire staff make significant efforts to improve the efficiency of the educational process by introducing innovative technologies and international relations not only in the field of educational process, but also in scientific activities.
