The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies is an important academic unit that actively contributes to the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of chemical sciences and technologies. The Department offers educational programs for students majoring in Chemical Technologies, as well as for those enrolled in technological, construction, and mining and geological specialties, in both full-time and part-time modes of study. It prepares specialists capable of effectively applying their knowledge in such sectors as the chemical and food industries, environmental protection, energy, biotechnology, and construction.

Students specializing in technology, construction, energy, and mining and geology receive comprehensive theoretical and practical training in various areas of chemistry, enabling them to successfully solve professional tasks within their respective fields. The curriculum includes both fundamental and specialized disciplines such as Inorganic and Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physicochemical Methods of Analysis, Physical and Colloidal Chemistry, as well as Polymer Chemistry and Physics. These subjects form the foundation for further study of advanced and specialized courses directly related to technological processes and the application of chemistry in various industries, including materials production, environmental protection, resource processing, and waste management. Students also master chemical analysis and diagnostic methods, allowing them to conduct research and develop innovative technological solutions that meet modern industrial challenges.

The educational process is focused not only on providing deep knowledge of classical chemistry but also on introducing students to the latest achievements in chemical science and technology. Particular attention is given to modern research and analytical methods such as spectroscopy, chromatography, X-ray structural analysis, and advanced approaches to materials and process studies. This enables students to gain a comprehensive understanding of chemical science and its practical industrial applications. An essential component of the educational process is the use of modern laboratory equipment and analytical instruments, which ensures effective practical training.

The Department also provides specialized training under the profile “Chemist-Researcher,” offering students advanced knowledge and skills necessary for scientific and professional activities in chemistry. Since its establishment, the Department has graduated several cohorts of Chemist-Researchers (notably in 2007 and 2009), who are successfully employed in various scientific and industrial organizations, including Kumtor Gold Company OJSC, the Independent Grain Inspection, the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as leading analytical centers in Russia and Uzbekistan. Graduates are engaged in the development of new technologies, scientific research, and the implementation of large-scale industrial projects.

A notable example of alumni success is Lasankhu Kerim, who pursued an academic career and defended a PhD dissertation in Chemistry. His achievement serves as an inspiration for current students aspiring to scientific careers. The Department takes pride in its graduates, who are highly востребованы in the labor market and contribute significantly to the development of chemical science and technology both in Kyrgyzstan and abroad.

In 2023, the Department resumed enrollment in the academic program 720100 “Chemical Technologies” with the profile “Chemist-Researcher.” This program uniquely combines fundamental chemical education with modern research and analytical methods. Graduates obtain the qualification of highly skilled research chemists capable of working effectively in strategically important sectors such as mining, metallurgy, energy, food and processing industries, and environmental protection. These specialists are in high demand and contribute to the development of innovative technologies, process improvement, and sustainable development.

The Department is equipped with modern instruments and laboratory facilities that meet the requirements for high-level professional training. Laboratories provide all necessary conditions for conducting practical classes and scientific research.

Since 1997, the Department has actively organized and conducted International, National, and City Chemistry Olympiads for school students. This activity promotes the popularization of chemistry, identifies and supports talented youth, and contributes to the development of the country’s scientific potential. Faculty members participate in developing competition tasks and serve as jury members, encouraging students to pursue in-depth study and research in chemistry.

The academic staff consists of 11 highly qualified faculty members, including 2 Doctors of Chemical Sciences (Professors) and 4 Candidates of Sciences (Associate Professors). Faculty members are actively engaged in research, publish extensively in scientific journals, and serve on academic and dissertation councils. Many have received prestigious state awards, including the titles “Honored Worker of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic” and “Excellence in Education of the Kyrgyz Republic.” M.B. Batkibekova is an Academician of the International Engineering Academy, and B.B. Toktosunova has been awarded the Gold Medal of the World Intellectual Property Organization for her significant contribution to science and education.

In 2022, two new Candidates of Chemical Sciences, E.I. Syrymbekova and D.S. Kudaibergenova, successfully defended their dissertations in the field of nanotechnology. This achievement highlights the high level of research conducted at the Department and its substantial contribution to the development of chemical science and technology in Kyrgyzstan. Their work in nanotechnology opens new prospects for the implementation of innovative solutions in various industries and scientific fields.

Thus, the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies serves as a significant educational and scientific center, training highly qualified specialists capable of addressing modern challenges in the chemical and technological industries and contributing to the advancement of scientific research and innovation.
