The INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN (IAD) is a structural division of the Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University, which carries out educational, scientific, research, and cultural activities.
The Institute of Architecture and Design (IAD) is a well–known higher national educational institution of Kyrgyzstan with a worthy history and well-established traditions of training creative specialists: architects, architects–restorers, design engineers, light industry technologists and designers with higher education.
Currently, the institute has a teaching staff of 128 people.
The number of students is about 1900.
In 1965, the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering of the Frunze Polytechnic Institute was founded, in 1967, on the initiative of the famous architect P.P. Ivanov, the first profile department "Architecture" was formed, preparing future architects. M.Omurkulov, V.E.Nusov, V.A.Golubev, M.A.Manuilova and others worked at the department. The first graduation of architects took place in 1970. From 1974 to 1981, the department was headed by Doctor of Architecture V.V.Kurbatov.
In 1977, the Faculty of Architecture of the FPI was created from the department, which in 1992-2003 was called the National School of Architecture and Design. In 2004, the faculty was transformed into the Institute of Architecture and Design (IAD). Now IAD has 7 departments: "Architecture", "Urban Planning", "Design of the architectural environment", "Restoration and reconstruction of architectural heritage", "Design of art products", "Descriptive geometry and Graphics", "Design".
The rector - arch has made a great contribution to the formation and development of the Institute since 2004. Shkaev A.S., Doctor of Architecture, Prof. Omuraliev D.Zh., Candidate of Architecture. Graduates I.Spector, V.Gresle, G.Janzen, A.Zusik, A.Logunov, A.Kohanov, G.Katz, D.Egimbayeva, A.Lebedeva work as architects abroad. , K.Akylbekov, etc.
Since September 1, 2022, pursuant to the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic UP No. 243 of 18.07.2022 "On measures to increase the potential and competitiveness of educational institutions of higher professional education of the Kyrgyz Republic" and the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 414 of 29.07.2022 "On some issues of reorganization of higher educational institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic", Kyrgyz State University of Construction, transport and architecture named after N. Isanov and, accordingly, the Institute of Architecture and Design became part of the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I.Razzakov. To date, the management structure of the IAD is:

Over the past 10 years, teachers and students of the Institute have participated in more than 10 republican and international competitions, where most of them became winners and were awarded diplomas. More than 30 graduates have become laureates of international competitions, recognized as the best at international diploma competitions of national architectural schools of the CIS and foreign countries: Kazakhstan, Russia, Italy, Korea, China, Germany, Turkey, Poland, etc. Our students participated in International festivals of architecture, construction and design schools of Eurasia, in Istanbul they received diplomas of the 1st and two 2nd degrees. In 2014, according to the results of the competition among 14 countries, IAD students were awarded 15 diplomas.
Classes at IAD in special disciplines of architecture, design, restoration, urban planning, costume design are held in special creative workshops. The teaching staff of the IAD has 145 people, including 4 doctors and 20 candidates of sciences, 7 professors and 27 associate professors, 1 laureate of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz Republic, 4 Honored Workers of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic, 1 Honored Scientist and 1 Honored Worker of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic. The main training programs have successfully passed international accreditation and prepare bachelors and masters in the following areas: Architecture; Urban planning; Restoration and reconstruction of architectural heritage; Design of the architectural environment; Design; Decoration of products.
The Institute also has a scientific and technical council, postgraduate and doctoral studies in the following specialties: 05.23.20 - History and theory of architecture, reconstruction and restoration of historical and architectural heritage; 05.23.21 – Architecture of buildings and structures, creative concepts of architectural activity; PhD - "Restoration and reconstruction of architectural heritage".
The mission of the Institute of Architecture and Design is the comprehensive training of highly qualified personnel in the field of architecture, urban planning, restoration, design and technology of products in accordance with modern sociocultural demands of society, through the implementation of joint educational programs and scientific cooperation.
The main objectives are: the development of partnerships with domestic and foreign educational institutions, scientific and specialized organizations in the context of the formation of a unified architectural community; improving the quality of methodological, informational and personnel support for scientific and educational activities; education of a creative personality with leadership qualities, striving for professional growth and achievements in all spheres of life.
IAD provides training for specialists capable of combining production, design, innovation, research and entrepreneurship.
