Scientific research
The scientific problem "Rational use of natural resources and environmental protection" is an important part of the university's research plan. Within the framework of this problem, research is carried out in several key areas, such as: "Development of environmentally friendly technologies for extracting gold from refractory gold-bearing raw materials", "Food safety", "Synthesis and thermodynamics of donor-acceptor compounds", "Express methods for cleaning natural waters of the Kyrgyz Republic", and "Nanotechnology".
The research is carried out in close cooperation with industrial enterprises of Kyrgyzstan, as well as with scientific institutions such as the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology (now the Institute of Chemistry and Phytotechnology) of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Kyrgyzgeology Production Association, the Bishkek Center for Testing, Certification and Metrology, as well as with foreign partners such as the Russian University of Chemical Technology named after D.I. Mendeleyev, the Almaty Technological University, the National British Museum (Great Britain) and others.
One of the significant projects was cooperation with the Kadamjai Antimony Plant, during which methods for recycling refined slags with the release of metals (antimony, lead, tin) and waste electrolyte with the release of sodium sulfate were developed. A method for environmentally friendly thiocarbamide extraction of gold from refractory gold-bearing ores was also developed. As part of the work on the specified problem, professors M.B. Batkibekova and T.Sh. Dzhunushalieva developed the project "Cyanide-free gold extraction from refractory gold-bearing sulphide ores", which won a grant of 300 thousand euros from the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) in 2004. Work on the project was successfully carried out jointly with scientists from Great Britain and the USA, with funding from the European Community. Collaborators of the project include Dr. Ian Cryson (USA) and Dr. Reimar Seltman (UK).
In addition, a series of studies of the chemical composition of natural waters and soils of all regions of Kyrgyzstan was conducted in order to identify the content of heavy metals in ecologically unsafe areas of gold ore deposits and tailings. As a result, a method for rapid purification of drinking water using the reagent "R" was developed, for which a patent was received.
Professor M.B. Batkibekova is the director of the Chemical and Technological Research Institute (NIHTI) of KSTU. I. Razzakova. On the basis of the department worked the department of chemical technology NIhti, which was headed by d.h.n., prof. T.Sh. Dzhunushalieva. The department successfully included Candidate of Sciences, Professor D.B. Borbieva, st. teacher Sh.S. Sydykova, Associate Professor E.I. Syrymbekova, as well as students of the specialization "Chemist
- researcher". The department's teachers, such as M.B. Batkibekova, T.Sh. Dzhunushalieva and B.B. Toktosunova, are members of active dissertation councils and also occupy important positions in scientific and educational organizations.
In recent years, projects have been developed and submitted to international grant funds, including the Interuniversity Educational and Research HUB, submitted for an ERASMUS grant in 2023, as well as the Green Asia project, implemented jointly with universities in 9 countries, including Norway, Poland, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and others.
The results of scientific research of the department's teachers have been published in numerous monographs and articles, as well as in peer-reviewed scientific journals and collections of scientific conferences both in Kyrgyzstan and abroad. Author's certificates and patents have also been received. In 2022, PhD dissertations on the topic "Nanotechnology" were successfully defended by postgraduate students of the department E.I. Syrymbekova and D.S. Kudaibergenova, who were awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Chemical Sciences in 2023.
Research work of students
Students of the department actively participate in scientific activities, starting with scientific abstracting and mastering the methods of chemical analysis, to planning and performing the experimental part, generalizing the results and preparing reports for conferences. A number of student scientific works, completed under the supervision of teachers of the department, were awarded diplomas and awards, including diplomas of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, and also published in collections of materials of student scientific conferences.
An example of successful work is the project of student Gutsal V. (group ML-1-06) "Euro-ruberoid from old car tires", which received the "Grand Prix" of the State Patent Service of Kyrgyzstan. The scientific supervisor of the work was PhD, associate professor D.B. Borbieva. Another example is the work of student of group MS-1-10 Kichigin A. on purification of drinking water, under the supervision of prof. T.Sh. Dzhunushalieva, which was awarded the Grand Prix and a prize of 2000 euros at the International Competition of Student Works in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Postgraduate studies
The department successfully operates a postgraduate program, within the framework of which such scientists as Doctor of Chemical Sciences T.Sh. Dzhunushalieva and six Candidates of Sciences, including Zholdoshev B.M., Stambekova B.B., Abdyldaeva F.A., Usubalieva A.M., Kulmurzaeva A.M. and R.Sh. There is also a scientific school under the guidance of Professor M.B. Batkibekova. Under the guidance of T.Sh. Dzhunushalieva, two Candidate of Sciences dissertations were successfully defended. In the 2022/2023 academic year, Candidate of Sciences dissertations were defended by Associate Professors E.I. Syrymbekova and D.S. Kudaibergenova, who were awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Chemical Sciences.
Currently, a postgraduate student is studying in the department's graduate program.
