History of the Department

In 1994, the Kyrgyz Mining and Metallurgical Institute was established by decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Since that year, the Department of Metallurgy and Metallurgical Processes has been operating, training metallurgical engineers for the metallurgical industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The first head of the department was Candidate of Engineering Sciences T.S. Mambetaliyev. In subsequent years, the department was headed by T.A. Ryspaev, E.S. Moldobaev, K.A. Nogaeva, and A.K. Kozhanov.

From April 1, 2024 to the present, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor E.S. Moldobaev has served as the head of the department.

In 2022, the department was renamed "Mineral Beneficiation and Metallurgical Processes," making it the only department in the republic.

Currently, the department trains undergraduate and graduate students in the 650200 "Metallurgy" program, as well as engineers in the 650001 "Non-Ferrous Metallurgy" program, specializing in "Non-Ferrous Metallurgy" and "Mineral Beneficiation."

Since its inception, the department has defended two candidate dissertations and one doctoral dissertation.

Every year, faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students participate in KSTU scientific conferences, as well as international conferences at the national and international levels.

From September 23-27, 2024, Professor K.A. Nogaeva participated in the international conference "Plaksin Readings" on "Innovative Processes for the Enrichment and Deep Processing of Rare Metal Mining and Chemical Raw Materials and Complex Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metal Ores."

In Apatity, Murmansk Region, she presented a brief overview of the university department's activities in training and research, conducted not only within the department but also at mining enterprises.
