Kyrgyz Mining and Metallurgical Institute named after Academician U. Asanaliev

The Kyrgyz Republic is geologically a unique region. All the chemical elements of D.I. Mendeleev's table have been discovered on the territory of the Republic and more than 15,000 deposits and ore manifestations of various types of minerals are known. Only gold deposits are more than 1000. The resource potential of the territory of our Republic is very large.

Therefore, today the mining industry is recognized by the Government of the Republic as one of the priority areas in the development of the country's economy.

The University was established by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on April 2, 1993 in order to train highly qualified specialists for the national economy in the field of geology, mining and metallurgy. The University is the only specialized educational institution in the Central Asian region, the main task of which is to train highly qualified engineers for the geological, mining and metallurgical industries, conduct research and development work, as well as advanced training and retraining of engineering and technical personnel.

The uniqueness of the university lies in the fact that we train specialists at all stages of studying and developing mineral deposits, namely, this is the training: geological engineers, whose task is the discovery, exploration and transfer to industrial development of mineral deposits; mining engineers who ensure the extraction of minerals by underground and open methods; metallurgical engineers obtaining pure metal through enrichment and metallurgical process; environmental engineers who study the state of environmental protection in the extraction of minerals; engineers-economists engaged in mining economics and mining management; software engineers providing information support for mining production.

Asanaliev, the only problem research laboratory of stratiform deposits of non-ferrous, rare and noble metals and a laboratory for forecasting deposits of non-ferrous, rare and noble metals of Kyrgyzstan were created in the country's universities. His scientific guidance and consultation prepared 10 candidates and 1 doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences.
