Republican Competence Center for School Nutrition

The Republican Competence Center for the training and retraining of cooks and kitchen workers of educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan is located in KSTU named after. I. Razzakova.

The Republican Competence Center was launched by the Ministry of Education and Science, the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov and the UN World Food Program.

The RCC was created with financial support from the Russian government and technical support from the Russian Institute of Industrial Nutrition (SIFI).

The RCC aims to train and improve the professional skills of cooks, kitchen workers and staff involved in the organization of school meals for the sustainable and effective implementation of the National School Feeding Program in the country. The center will promote healthy eating and improve the quality of school meals using international best practices, the latest technologies and modern approaches to learning.

As Kojiro Nakai, Country Director and Representative of WFP in the Kyrgyz Republic, said: “WFP and the Ministry of Education and Science are working together to ensure that children in the Kyrgyz Republic lead healthy and active lives. The Republican Competence Center will allow us to disseminate best practices throughout the country, develop new methods and monitor the implementation and quality of the National School Feeding Program. We hope that this center will serve as a starting point for expanding the nutrition program in other educational institutions.”

“The opening of the RCC on the basis of KSTU is not accidental, since the university is a leader in training specialists in the food and processing industry.
The Republican Competence Center was created on the basis of KSTU, since the Technical University has the necessary educational and methodological base for developing methods and implementing training programs for specialists dealing with nutrition in educational institutions. Training at the Republican Competence Center will include both theoretical classes and practical work. To this end, the Center has a lecture hall and production facilities, where training participants can consolidate their knowledge. Cooks and kitchen workers of schools and other educational institutions where the school nutrition optimization program will be launched, with the technical support of WFP and SIFI, will be trained according to programs and methods developed by the Republican Competence Center.
