The training of students is carried out in full-time and distance learning and a multi-level system - specialist, master, doctor PhD.
he Department of Open Mining and Explosives was established by order No. 534 of May 3, 2005. At the same time, the training of mining process engineers in open mining of mineral deposits began long before the creation of the Department of Open Mining and Explosives. Mining engineers have been trained since 1952 at the Kyrgyz State University. In 1954, on the basis of the engineering specialties of KSU, the Frunze Polytechnic Institute was established, and in 1955, the department "Development of mineral deposits" was created, from which, by separation, an independent structural unit was formed - the department "Open-pit mining and blasting".
The training of specialists is carried out in full-time and distance learning and a multi-level system - specialist, master, PhD.
The department trains specialists in two specializations: "Open pit mining" and" Explosive case", with the qualification "Mining engineer".
Specialization "Open pit mining". In the process of training in this specialization, students get acquainted with the methods of maintaining safe, environmentally friendly, resource-saving and cost-effective technologies for open pit mining of solid mineral deposits; master the methods of design, construction, operation, reconstruction and re-equipment of mining enterprises, including using information technologies; master the methods of geological and industrial assessment of mineral deposits and the legislative foundations of subsoil use; study the processes and mechanization of open-pit mining of deposits of solid minerals.
Explosive Specialization. In the process of studying in this specialization, students get acquainted with theories of detonation and explosion, mining technologies in open and underground mining, methods for controlling the quality of explosive breaking of rock, modern equipment used in mining, computer technologies for modeling and designing drilling and blasting operations, normative documentation regulating blasting operations, safety rules for handling explosive materials.
In the direction 630300 "Mining" 1 master's program is being implemented.
In the direction 630300 "Mining" 1 PhD doctoral program is being implemented.
Staff training through postgraduate and doctoral studies
A special place in the system of training scientific and pedagogical personnel is occupied by postgraduate and doctoral studies. In 2022, the department prepared 1 doctor of technical sciences. Currently, 5 graduate students, 2 applicants, 5 doctoral students are studying in the postgraduate study at the department. The supervisors are: Ph.D., associate professor Abdiev A.R., Ph.D., senior researcher Abdibaitov Sh.A.
