History of the department "Open pit mining and blasting"

The training of mining process engineers for open-pit mining began long before the creation of the department of open-pit mining and blasting. Mining engineers began to train in 1952 at the Kyrgyz State University. In 1954, on the basis of the engineering specialties of KSU, the Frunzensky Polytechnic Institute was created and in 1955 the department “Development of Mineral Deposits” was created.

At various periods in the history of the RMPI department, it was headed by such prominent scientists as Medvedev K.D., Bagdasarov A.G., Baranov E.G., Imaraliev A., Tangaev I.A., Mambetov Sh.A., Kozhogulov K. Ch. (Until now).

In 2005, the department “Open-pit mining and blasting” was separated from the department of RMPI. From its founding until 2020, the department of “Open-pit mining and blasting” was headed by Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences, laureate of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz SSR Abdyakim Ashymbaevich Ashymbaev.

Since 2020, the department of open-pit mining and blasting has been headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, excellent student in the energy sector of the Kyrgyz Republic and excellent student in education of the Kyrgyz Republic Abdiev Arstanbek Raimbekovich.
