KGTU Students and Faculty Completed an Internship in Germany under the "DSG Telematik" Project
From October 1 to 31, 2024, students and faculty from the "Telematics" department of the I. Razakov Kyrgyz State Technical University (KGTU) completed a month-long internship and training at the Cologne Institute of Technology (Germany). This became possible thanks to the "DSG Telematik" project, implemented under the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) program and the Erasmus+ mobility program.
During the internship, the students had a unique opportunity to work with modern equipment under the guidance of German professors. The main focus of their work was the "Weather Station based on Raspberry Pi-3" project, which allowed them to apply their knowledge of virtual environments and libraries for data collection and visualization. This experience expanded their skills in working with both software and hardware for environmental parameter monitoring.
Faculty members of the "Telematics" department, Associate Professor R.T. Sultangazieva and Senior Lecturer A.A. Turdalieva, also completed intensive German language courses and studied industrial controller programming on the Codesys 3.5 platform. During the internship, under the guidance of Professor Peter Kern, they developed an experimental stand with the WAGO PLC, designed for data management and exchange in industrial networks.
In addition to the core program, demonstration lectures were organized for staff and students in the fields of mechanical engineering, automation, robotics, and programming at the Cologne Institute of Technology. Participants also visited the Metabolon research and training center, where Professor Christian Wolf, the project coordinator, gave an introductory lecture on waste recycling and biogas production.
The internship concluded with the "DAAD Alumni Telematik" conference, which brought together alumni of the "Telematics" department from KGTU working in Europe. The event gathered representatives from both the academic and professional communities who shared their experiences working abroad. It is noteworthy that 90% of the department's graduates employed in Germany are working in fields directly related to telematics. The accreditation of the "Telematics" program in Germany in 2023 allows graduates to work in European countries without additional diploma recognition procedures.
The internship not only provided students and faculty with valuable practical skills but also strengthened the partnership between KGTU and the Cologne Institute of Technology, which has been successfully developing since 2011

Even in our time, wars do not cease, where ordinary people always suffer. Through his works, Chingiz Aitmatov called everyone to peace.
