On February 17, 2023, KSTU named after I. Razzakov was visited by a delegation from Akita University (Japan) consisting of professors Atsushi Shibayama (specialist in processing minerals and metallurgy), Yasushi Watanabe (specialist in geology, mineralogy and exploration of mineral deposits) and the head of the International Department of this university - Takanori Imai.

Our side was represented by Rector Chynybaev M.K., Vice-Rector for International Relations Chymyrov A.U., Director of the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Maralbaev A.O. and Head of the Department of International Relations Baichekirova V.K.

During the visit, the guests got acquainted with the exposition of the Mining Museum, examined specialized audiences and laboratory complexes. They were shown the potential of scientific and technical centers of KSTU, and also organized a meeting with the faculty of the departments of geology, hydrogeology and metallurgy on the campus of the IGDM.

As a result of the event, an Agreement on the Resumption of Bilateral Cooperation was signed. It should be noted that the parties expressed their desire to develop cooperation in the field of education and scientific research in a number of areas. Among them: academic exchange, development of joint educational programs, implementation of scientific projects in the field of innovation, organization of bilateral seminars, master classes and conferences.

Of course, special attention in the future partnership will be paid to research in the field of mining and mineral resources, increasing the profitability of mining operations.

Both universities have identified responsible coordinators for the implementation of the signed document, focusing on the development of specific proposals within the framework of the agreements reached, the assessment of the work done and the generation of new ideas for long-term cooperation.
