On February 2-3, 2023, the first organizational meeting of the consortium of the project “Development of Financial Autonomy of the Universities of Kyrgyzstan” (DEFA), funded by the EU Erasmus + program, is being held at KSTU named after I. Razzakov.

This event was opened by Deputy Minister of Education Rasul Avazbek uulu, Advisor to the Minister of Education Almaz Ibraev, National Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Office in Kyrgyzstan Isaeva G.R. and Rector of KSTU M.K. Chynybaev.

As part of the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on giving the university a special status, legal acts and regulations are being developed. This means that this project meets the target objectives of the strategic development of the university to give a special status in terms of independent financial management of universities.

The model will be built after studying the financial management of the University of Magdeburg and Florence.

The purpose of this DEFA project is to develop a new system of university financial self-government, to test it, to expand and increase financial autonomy.

Within the framework of the DEFA project, the prospects for increasing the financial and economic independence of higher educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan will be studied and its legislatively fixed model will be developed. On its basis, the powers of the universities of Kyrgyzstan in their financial activities will be clarified.

The project consortium includes 12 higher education institutions from all regions of Kyrgyzstan, 2 international educational institutions (Italy, Germany) and 1 public organization (Italy).

During the first meeting, the rector of KSTU named after I. Razzakov M.K. Chynybaev, the National Coordinator of the Erasmus + Office in Kyrgyzstan Isaeva G.R., the national project coordinator N.K. Omurov and representatives of the universities included in the project consortium noted the relevance of introducing financial autonomy , as well as the contribution of the project to the socio-economic development of our country and those industries with which the universities of the consortium cooperate.
