Shamil Bekturganovich Dikambaev graduated from the Frunze Polytechnic Institute in 1973 with a degree in “Power Supply of Industrial Enterprises and Cities.”

In 1989, he completed postgraduate studies at the Research Institute of Direct Current (Saint Petersburg).

Academic degree: Candidate of Technical Sciences, Honorary Professor of KSTU.

Professional Career

Since 1975, he has been working within the system of the Research Institute of Energy (currently the Research Institute of Energy under the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic), where he advanced from Junior Researcher to Director (1999–2014) and Chief Researcher (since 2019).

Earlier, he worked as a foreman and Head of the Electrical Department at the Frunze Kenaf Factory (1973–1975), and as a mechanic at the Physical Instruments Plant (1967–1969).

He actively participated in the establishment and development of the High-Altitude Research Station at the Töö-Ashuu Pass (3050 m). He supervised the construction of experimental spans of 500 kV AC and 400 kV DC transmission lines and led experimental research activities. The results were implemented in the construction and operation of 500 kV transmission lines and used in the development of regulatory documents.

Scientific Achievements

Author of more than 70 scientific publications and 4 inventions.
He developed a new methodology for calculating corona power losses, as well as new phase configurations and insulating suspension designs for 500 kV transmission lines, significantly improving their reliability and efficiency.

The results have been implemented in Kyrgyzstan and abroad (Tajikistan, Afghanistan, South Africa, Ethiopia, etc.).

Under his leadership, the National Energy Program until 2005, the 2008–2010 Energy Program, and the Fuel and Energy Sector Development Strategy until 2025 were developed. He cooperated with international organizations such as TACIS, USAID, UNDP, UNECE, and others.

Academic Activity

Scientific supervisor of PhD candidates, master’s students, and graduate students of KSTU, KRSU, and other universities. Chairman of State Examination Commissions and reviewer of scientific works.

Awards

Honored Worker of Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic (2004), Distinguished Power Engineer. Awarded Certificates of Honor from the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and sectoral ministries.
