The PI Department (MAPP) has been operating since 1962 and trains specialists for the food and processing industry, trade and public catering.

The main goal of the department is to train highly qualified specialists for food production, in accordance with the requirements of consumers of educational services, to achieve the convertibility of graduates, as well as the training of highly qualified specialists.

Over the years, the training of specialists at the department of "Food Engineering" was carried out not only for Kyrgyzstan, but also for the entire Central Asian region in a coordinated recruitment. Every year, according to this system, 35 students were trained at the department. Since 1992, co-recruitment specialists have not been trained.

During its existence, the department has prepared over 2,000 mechanical engineers and about 200 industrial engineers for the national economy.

In connection with the adoption of the Bologna Convention by the Kyrgyz Republic and the transition to the organization of the educational process on credit education technology, students are recruited to prepare bachelors in the direction 650400 - "Technological machines and equipment" by profiles:Machines and equipment for food production,
Food engineering
Refrigeration, cryogenic equipment and air conditioning.

Young personnel are also being trained through postgraduate studies in the specialty “Processes and Food Production Equipment”, “Theory of Mechanisms and Machines”. The best of undergraduates and graduate students in the long term can become teachers of the department and strengthen its staff.
Since 2016, masters have been trained in the direction 650400 “Technological machines and equipment” and under the program “Food Engineering of Small Enterprises”. The first graduate of the program “Food Engineering of Small Enterprises” was carried out in 2018 and aimed at the food industry with the implementation of the corresponding labor functions, which gives an increase in career growth.
