Research work
The Department of Textile and Leather Products conducts active and systematic research aimed at solving pressing scientific, technical, and applied problems in the textile and light industry. Research is focused on developing innovative technologies, improving product quality and competitiveness, and implementing modern design and manufacturing methods.
Main research areas:
Materials science and new technologies: development and research of modern textile and leather materials; creation of new complex specialty materials with improved performance characteristics, polymer composites using rocks and minerals from the Kyrgyz Republic; recycling of textile and clothing waste to produce new materials;
Digitalization of production processes: Implementation of CAD/CAM systems, 3D modeling, and virtual fitting for clothing and footwear design.
Environmental sustainability. Developing waste recycling technologies, implementing resource conservation and "green production" principles, improving primary processing technologies for raw materials (leather, fur, cotton, wool, etc.), etc.
Functional and specialized products. Creation of clothing and footwear for professional, sports, and protective activities, taking into account ergonomics and comfort.
Research into the history of Kyrgyz national costume with the aim of preserving, systematizing, and incorporating traditional elements into modern clothing design.
Leading scientists—professors, doctors, and candidates of science—participate in the department's research and development, including those from Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan, and elsewhere. International cooperation facilitates the integration of modern scientific approaches and innovative solutions into the educational process.
Training of scientific personnel. Starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, the PhD program "Textile and Light Industry Manufacturing Technology" will be implemented for the first time in the Kyrgyz Republic, focusing on specialization 742000 - "Consumer Goods Technology."
The training of highly qualified personnel is closely linked to scientific research. Particular attention is paid to developing the scientific potential of young scientists and ensuring the continuity of scientific schools. Undergraduate, master's, postgraduate, doctoral, and PhD students actively participate in research, ensuring the integration of research results into the educational process.
Currently, the department has four postgraduate students, three postgraduate students, and a PhD candidate.
The Educational and Scientific Laboratory "Materials Science for Textile and Light Industry Production" was established to conduct scientific research. Modern testing equipment from Metrotex was purchased for a total of 4,435,000 soms to equip the laboratory, including: an MT-160 air permeability meter; an MT-197M electric krokmeter for determining the color fastness of fabrics to dry and wet friction; and an MT-110-5 universal testing machine. The MT-580-M video system for analyzing the composition and surface characteristics of animal, plant, and mineral fibers.
The equipment complies with the technical regulations of the Customs Union and the EAEU, as well as GOST, EN, ISO, IEC standards, and European Union regulations. It has valid verification certificates and meets metrological control requirements.
The department's research findings are being applied in light industry enterprises, contributing to the modernization of production processes and improving the quality and competitiveness of products. The department strengthens the interaction between science, education, and industry, ensuring the sustainable development of the industry and the development of professional human resources in the Kyrgyz Republic.
