The Department of "Information Systems and Technologies named after Academician A. Zhaynakov" provides training for specialists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of modern information systems and digital solutions. Educational activities cover information systems in mining and telecommunications, software, and intelligent technologies.

The department implements basic educational programs of higher professional education (BEP) in the field of 710200 "Information Systems and Technologies."

In the process of learning, students receive fundamental knowledge and practical skills in programming, databases, network, and intelligent technologies, ensuring readiness for professional activity in various sectors of the economy.

The mission of the department is to train highly qualified specialists in IT fields who meet consumer requirements, based on the introduction of modern educational technologies and the continuous improvement of the teaching and methodological activities of the department's faculty.

The main goal of the department is to ensure the modern quality of education and the upbringing of future specialists in the department's areas of study, based on preserving their fundamentality and meeting the current and future needs of the individual, society, and the state.

The tasks of the department are:

  • Training qualified specialists possessing general cultural and professional competencies in the field of information systems and technologies;
  • Increasing the intellectual potential of the department, developing the department's research base, and enhancing the professionalism of the teaching staff to meet modern requirements for training qualified and competitive personnel;
  • Implementing innovative methods of organizing the educational process and applying progressive educational technologies;
  • Forming links with employers.

History of the Department

The department traces its history back to 1996, when the "Information Technologies and Mathematical Modeling" department was established by a decision of the Scientific Council of the Mining and Metallurgical Institute. The founder and first head of the department from 1996 to 2021 was Amanbek Zhaynakov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In 2015, the department was named after Academician Amanbek Zhaynakov for his significant contribution to the development of science and education.

In 2011, the "Information Systems and Technologies in Telecommunications" department was established and began its educational activities within the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications of KSTU named after I. Razzakov.

Since 2022, as a result of the merger of departments from various structural divisions, a single department has been functioning—the "Information Systems and Technologies named after Academician A. Zhaynakov," which provides training for specialists in modern IT fields.

Since 2021, the department has been headed by Nurgul Asimkanovna Amankulova, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Associate Professor.
