Advancing University Education in Biomedical Engineering and Health Management in Kyrgyzstan

Erasmus+ KA2 – Capacity Building in Higher Education

Status: Completed

Implementation period: 2015–2019 Project website: kyrmedu.org

About the Project

The project addresses a critical challenge in Kyrgyzstan's healthcare system — the shortage of specialists capable of properly operating modern medical equipment. The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic acknowledges that expensive equipment in public medical institutions remains unused due to the lack of necessary knowledge and skills among staff. The project supports the "Biomedical Engineering" program, offered at KSTU since 2013.

Participants

The project brought together 7 universities in Kyrgyzstan under the coordination of the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau (Germany).

From Kyrgyzstan, the following participated:

  • Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov
  • Kyrgyz State Medical Academy
  • Issyk-Kul State University
  • Kyrgyz State University of Construction, Transport and Architecture
  • Naryn State University
  • Osh State University
  • Talas State University

Project coordinator — West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau (Germany).
