The Department of Applied Informatics has established agreements with several foreign partner universities and actively participates in academic mobility programs within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University (SCO University) for the preparation of master’s students. These initiatives attest to the Department’s attractiveness and the alignment of its educational programs with those of its international counterparts.
The Department is responsible for the development and implementation of the project “Creation and Development of the SCO University KSTU named after I. Razzakova” (formerly KGUSTA named after N. Isanov). This project has been coordinated by Associate Professor A.K. Orozobekova since 2010.
As part of the SCO University, KSTU named after I. Razzakova has implemented mobility and exchange programs based on bilateral agreements and joint training arrangements for master’s students in the fields of “Applied Informatics” and “Software Engineering.” These programs have been successfully tested with the following partner universities:
• St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (SPb ITMO) – 3 master’s students (Tologon Tegin S., Erkinbekova A., Abdymalikova D.A. - 2020)
• Novosibirsk State University – 2 master’s students (Kaidueva I.K.)
• Altai State University – 2 master’s students (Galiaskarov R., Alymbek u Dastan)
• Karaganda Economic University of Kazpotrebsoyuz – 2 master’s students (Aubakir A.R., Ishmieva E.I.)
• Kazakh National University named after Al Farabi – 3 master’s students (Kundil A.N., Baktybek u., Zulfikhorov B.)
In 2021, a joint double-degree program in “Software Engineering” was initiated under the SCO Network University framework in collaboration with Kazakh National University named after Al Farabi. The curriculum, learning trajectory, assessment scale, and academic mobility procedures were agreed upon. Under this program, master’s student Kundil Aliya Nedal (PINm-1-20) is currently pursuing her degree, with her dissertation topic and supervisors duly approved.
As of 2023, six foreign students are studying at the Department of Applied Informatics: one from China, three from Russia, one from Uzbekistan, and one from Kazakhstan.
The Department places a strong emphasis on the advanced training of its teaching staff through scientific and pedagogical internships at leading foreign universities and research institutions. The results of these internships are actively integrated into the educational process.
Associate Professor A.K. Orozobekova, as the coordinator of the USCO and the Association of Asian Universities (AAU), has participated in various international events, including:
• June 2020: Participation in a meeting of the Coordinating Council of the SCO University via video conferencing at the RUDN University in Moscow. She also contributed to her doctoral research using scientific databases and developed skills in managing research materials with the Mendeley platform.
The Department also regularly organizes training seminars and guest lectures with invited professors from partner universities. In 2020, the department hosted the following guest lectures:
