Theory of mechanisms and machines

Postgraduate studies involve collecting and processing necessary information from various sources. This approach enables in-depth study of the chosen topic and comparison of experimental results with existing scientific data in the selected discipline.

Postgraduate professional education at I. I. Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU) addresses the task of training highly qualified personnel (Candidates and Doctors of Sciences) through full-time and part-time postgraduate studies (aspirantura), doctoral studies (doktorantura), and in the form of external independent research (soiskatelstvo).

Duration and form of study:

  • full-time – 3 years

  • part-time – 4 years

What knowledge will students acquire during their studies?

Training is conducted in the specialty “Theory of Mechanisms and Machines”, which is aimed at preparing future specialists to solve the following professional tasks and qualification requirements defined by the State Educational Standard of the field:

  • Design of mechanisms for machines and equipment; structural synthesis of machine mechanisms, methods of their synthesis, calculation of kinematic and dynamic characteristics;

  • Implementation of synthesis and calculation of kinematic and dynamic characteristics of machines and equipment;

  • Identification of causes of malfunctions in the operation of technological equipment and taking measures to eliminate them;

  • Knowledge of operating principles, technical characteristics, and design features of developed experimental and design technical means;

  • Performance of research and development (R&D) work;

  • Knowledge of standards, technical specifications, and other guiding documents related to the development and execution of technical documentation.

Admission Requirements for Postgraduate Studies

Admission to postgraduate studies at I. I. Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University is conducted annually in accordance with the admission quotas approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition to the state-funded places, the university may offer training on a contractual (fee-based) basis. Submission of documents and enrollment for contract-based studies take place within the same deadlines as for state-funded places. Foreign citizens are admitted to postgraduate and doctoral studies either on the basis of interstate agreements or on a contractual basis.

Admission to postgraduate studies is competitive and open to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who hold a completed higher professional education and have demonstrated aptitude for scientific research work. Postgraduate training in scientific fields and specialties is carried out in accordance with the current nomenclature of scientific worker specialties of the CIS countries. Citizens of foreign states, including citizens of CIS member states, are admitted to postgraduate studies on a contractual basis with payment of tuition fees.

Entrance Examinations

Applicants to postgraduate studies take competitive entrance examinations in the following subjects:

  • specialty;

  • history and philosophy of science;

  • one foreign language;

  • state language

The examinations are conducted in accordance with the current programs for higher education institutions. Applicants who have fully or partially passed candidate examinations are exempted from the corresponding entrance examinations.

All entrance examinations for postgraduate studies at I. I. Razzakov KSTU are held from November 1 to November 30. Transfer of examinations to other dates within the calendar year is not permitted. All applicants must undergo a mandatory interview with the prospective scientific supervisor.

Enrollment

Based on the conclusions of the prospective scientific supervisor, the head of the department, their reviews, and the results of the competitive examinations, the admissions committee makes a reasoned decision for each candidate. Enrollment in postgraduate studies is carried out by order of the rector in accordance with the admission plan for the specialty. The term of study in postgraduate studies is calculated from the date of enrollment specified in this order.
