Students of the Telematics Department of KSTU Take First Place at the 10th Intellectual Olympiad of the Volga Federal District
From April 23 to 26, 2025, a team of students from the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov, studying at the Department of Telematics, participated in the 10th Intellectual Olympiad of the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation. They competed in the “Engineering Team Competition” category.
The KSTU team consisted of third-year Telematics students:

— Timur Vakhitov
On the first day of the competition, the participants took part in an engineering hackathon, where they had 5 hours to solve three practical tasks proposed by industrial enterprises. The KSTU team effectively distributed roles and successfully completed the tasks in less than 4 hours, demonstrating a high level of preparation and excellent teamwork.
On the second day, the team presented their homework project. They showcased an engineering project for the company “Saranskrezinotekhnika.” The project involved creating an online system to measure the wall thickness of rubber hoses and detect visual defects using machine vision and artificial intelligence technologies. A specialized dataset was prepared, and a neural network model was trained for automatic image analysis.
As a result of the Olympiad, the KSTU team took first place in their category among international engineering teams. Participants included representatives from universities in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Belarus, and China.
