At the beginning of the 1999–2000 academic year, this department was divided into two departments: the Department of Fundamental Disciplines and the Department of General Technical Disciplines.

Based on Order No. 6 dated January 23, 2002, “On the division of the Department of General Technical Disciplines,” the Departments of Electric Power Engineering and General Technical Disciplines were established.

At the beginning of the 2003–2004 academic year, the Department of General Technical Disciplines was renamed the Department of Transport and Technical Disciplines.

In 2007, the Department of Transport and Technical Disciplines was reorganized into the Department of Automobile Transport and Service and became a graduating (degree-awarding) department.

In 2016, due to a reduction in the number of students, the department was closed.

In 2018, in order to improve the quality of education for students of the specialty 670300 Technology of Transport Processes and due to an increase in the number of full-time and part-time students, the specialized Department of       Automobile Transport and Service was re-established at the Branch named after Academician Kh.A. The main objective of the complex is to coordinate joint activities in training specialists and increasing the effectiveness of educational and research work, as well as to use the scientific and production facilities for practical and laboratory classes, academic, industrial, and pre-graduation internships.
