The department conducts research work in the following areas:
- Software for computers, systems and networks;
- Artificial intelligence systems: intelligent methods of data processing; expert systems; artificial neural networks and their application;
- Methods and means of protecting information in computer systems and networks
- Digital processing of Earth remote sensing data;
- Computational Linguistics and Machine Translation;
- Design of digital devices based on programmable logic integrated circuits;
- Microprocessor control systems.
