History of the Department
In 1996, by the decision of the Academic Council of the Mining and Metallurgical Institute, the Department of Information Technology and Mathematical Modelling was established with the aim of providing the students of all specialties of the Mining and Metallurgical Institute with the teaching of informatics and information technology, the acquisition of computer skills, the teaching of the basics of programming and numerical methods.
The founder and the first head of the department (1996-2021) is Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Honoured Worker of Science, People's Teacher, Laureate of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of science and technology, Laureate of the Academic Prize named after I.K. Akhunbaev. I.K. Akhunbaev Zhainakov Amanbek.
In 2015, based on the decision of the Academic Council of KSTU named after I. Razzakov from 29.04.2015, for significant contribution to the development of science and education, introduction of electronic computers in Kyrgyzstan, organisation and management of the Republican Interuniversity Electronic Computing Centre, organisation and contribution to the development of the department at KSTU named after I. Razzakov and special services in the training of engineering personnel, the department "Information Technology and Mathematical Modelling" was named after Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, People's Teacher of the Kyrgyz Republic, I. Razzakov and special achievements in the training of engineering personnel, the Department of Information Technology and Mathematical Modelling named after Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, People's Teacher of the Kyrgyz Republic, Honoured Worker of Science. I. Razzakov and for special merits in training of engineering personnel, the Department of Information Technologies and Mathematical Modelling was named after Amanbek Jainakov, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, People's Teacher of the Kyrgyz Republic, Honoured Worker of Science, Laureate of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In 2011 the Chair of "Information Systems and Technologies in Telecommunications" (ISTT) was established as a part of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications at KSTU named after I.Razzakov, where the heads of the department worked as Ph.D., Associate Professor Barakova J.T. (2011-2019), Ph.D.-M.Sc., Associate Professor Duishokov K.D. (2019-2022).
From 2021 to the present, the Chair of Physical and Mathematical Sciences is held by Associate Professor Amankulova N.A..
From 2022 the Chair of "Information Systems and Technologies named after Academician A. Zhainakov" was created by merging the Chair of "Information Technologies and Mathematical Modelling named after Academician A. Zhainakov" of KSTU named after Academician U. Asanaliev and the Chair of "Information Systems and Technologies in Telecommunications" of KSTU named after I. Razzakov.
In 1999, in connection with the rapid development of information technologies and their introduction into all spheres of activity, the Department developed a package of documents and obtained a licence for educational activities in the field of 552801 "Informatics and Computer Science".
In the academic year 2000-2001, the Department recruited students in the direction of "Informatics and Computer Science" on specialities:
552801.04 "Computer Engineering and Automated Systems Software";
552801.01 "Automated systems of information processing and control";
Since the 2006-2007 academic year, the Department has also obtained a licence for educational activities in the field of 552802.01 "Information systems and technologies".
Since the 2012-2013 academic year, the Department has participated in the development of the State Standard of Higher Professional Education of the third generation and is the holder of the standard for profiles 710100 "Automated systems of information processing and management"; 710200 "Information systems and technologies in mining" and "Geoinformation systems", "Information systems and technologies in telecommunications".
Since 2019. - The Department has started the training of master's degrees in the field of 710200 "Information systems and technologies" and 71100 "Informatics and computer science".
At present, the Department of "Information Systems and Technologies named after Academician A. Zhainakov" is training in demand and competitive personnel in the direction of 710200 Information Systems and Technologies in the profiles:
"Mining Information Systems and Technologies".
"Geo-information systems".
"Information Systems and Technologies in Telecommunications".
Graduates of the department work as IT specialists, programmers, network administrators in various spheres of activity, such as telecommunications companies MegaCom, Belain, O, mining companies (Kumtor, Alliance Altyn), banks, security services, Internet providers. Among our graduates there are postgraduates, teachers of universities and other educational institutions. Our specialists are in demand both in our country and abroad. Graduates of the department can successfully continue their studies in master's and doctoral programmes, in research academic and branch institutes of the Republic and CIS countries.
