The chair conducts scientific research in the following directions: 1. environmental safety and the contemporary problem of environmental protection. 2. Geo-ecological problems of mining industries and development of physical-chemical and technological bases of their safety.
Faculty members, together with students, publish articles in scientific journals and anthologies such as "The Mining Journal of KSU named after Acad. У. Asanaliev", "Science and new technologies", "Izvestiya VUZ", "Vestniki KRSU", "Izvestiya KSTU named after I.Razzakov", "Izvestiya KSAU named after Skryabin", "Izvestiya OshTU", "Izvestiya KSU named after I.Arabayev", in collections of National Academy of Sciences of KR, in indexed journals (RINC, Skopus, Web of Science and others). At the department (during the period of functioning) five master's theses were defended. Under the supervision of the faculty of the department research of students and undergraduates are conducted in collaboration with researchers of industry research institutes.
Agreements have been concluded for joint research and development work and internships: 1. The Department of Environmental Monitoring under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the KR; 2. Bishkek Territorial Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the KR; 3. The Environmental and Technical Supervision Service under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the KR; 4. Scientific Institute of Water Problems and Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic; 5. Scientific Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic. Employees of the department annually supervise research work of an average of 15 students, some of these students have published their published works and participate in various conferences.
In pursuance of the requirements of the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic, state programmes in the field of science and in order to ensure the implementation of the Programme of Development Strategy of KSTU named after I.Razzakov for 2021-2030, as well as for analysis, systematization, planning of new tasks of scientific-innovative work, demonstrating its achievements, expansion of research environment and infrastructure for the World Science Day at the University from 1 to 10 November 2022, the Decade of Science is held.
The Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I.Razzakov, at the Kyrgyz Mining and Metallurgical Institute named after Academician U.Asanaliev from November 02, 2022 held a round table discussion. The round table was attended by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the KR, KAZ Minerals Bozymchak LLC, EcoMiR Public Foundation, Department of Tailings Management under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the KR, Crisis Management Centre of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the KR.
The round table participants discussed the development of scientific cooperation in the field of industrial and environmental safety among organisations, industrial enterprises and the university. A proposal to conduct joint basic and applied research on topical issues was considered. Summing up the round table, participants recognized the importance of joint scientific research on environmental management, and industrial and environmental safety. With a consumer attitude to nature and its resources, the development of industry leads to irreversible environmental damage, and during the discussion, the speakers of the round table presented their scientific developments, as well as participated directly in addressing the issues on the agenda.
