To the applicant

Applicants entering the specialty “Restoration and Reconstruction of Architectural Heritage” must take entrance exams in the following special subjects: “Drawing” and “Composition.”
The drawing exam consists of two stages:

  1. Drawing of an antique plaster head;
  2. Drawing of a composition made of geometric solids.

In addition, applicants take tests in Kyrgyz or Russian language.

Before submitting documents for the entrance exams, applicants undergo an interview in Drawing, for which it is necessary to have a portfolio of personal works (pencil drawings, paintings).
The department offers preparatory courses in drawing and composition.
Training at the department is conducted on both state-funded and contractual bases.

About the Department

The Department of Restoration and Reconstruction of Architectural Heritage is the only department in Central Asia that has been training architect-restorers since 1998.
Restoration of architectural heritage is a complex and fascinating process that requires deep knowledge of history and art, understanding of modernity, and the ability to foresee future development.
This makes the specialty truly universal and applicable in various fields of modern life.

An architect-restorer is in high demand worldwide — both in government institutions and international projects — and belongs to the category of highly qualified and well-paid specialists.

After completing their studies, students receive the qualification of “Architect-Restorer” with the following academic degrees:

  • Bachelor’s degree – 5 years of study;
  • Master’s degree – 2 years of study;
  • PhD – 4 years of study.

Achievements and Recognition

Diploma and competition works by students of the department regularly win prizes in international architectural competitions, including:

  • 1st Degree Diploma from the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation in Venice (Italy);
  • 3rd Degree Diploma at an international competition in Tashkent (Uzbekistan);
  • In 2017, students became winners of the “MULTI COMFORT HOUSE” competition and were invited to Madrid (Spain).

The department holds a license from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic (MES KR) to train bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students in this field.
In May 2021, the Department of Restoration and Reconstruction of Architectural Heritage successfully passed international accreditation of its educational programs.
