In 1954 at the Polytechnic Institute in Frunze city an independent Russian language department was formed, which was headed by associate professors: Musin Sh.Yu., Bekzhanova R.B., Aristova S.I., Chernyshova Yu.I.,Bostonova P.Z., Dzhumabekova R.K.
Since 2006, the Department of the Russian Language has been part of the Technology Faculty.
In 2007, the head of Department, associate professor Dzhumabekova R.K. opened the Russian language courses for foreign students at KSTU, where the line of methodological developments on teaching Russian as a foreign language was continued. More than 30 students - foreigners from India, Pakistan, Jordan, Syria, United Arab Emirates took courses and received certificates . The success of the methodological work of the department is confirmed by the receipt of certificates by foreign students who graduated from these courses.
Since September 2019, the department is headed by Ph.D., Acting. Assoc. J.S. Barsanaeva.
