Collaboration with Schools and Olympiads

The Department actively cooperates with schools such as AFMSL No. 61, UVK No. 12, UVK No. 9, National Computer Gymnasium No. 5 in Bishkek, and the “Manas” Physics and Mathematics Lyceum in Talas. Department staff responsible for career guidance annually visit all regions of Kyrgyzstan, regularly meeting with school graduates — potential applicants to KSTU.

Since 2000, the Department of Physics has successfully organized city and national school physics olympiads at KSTU named after I. Razzakov. The Department conducts preliminary rounds and prepares students for International Olympiads. In recent years, 10th–11th grade students from different regions of Kyrgyzstan have participated in international competitions held in various countries.

Since 2003, the Head of the Department, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor R.M. Sultanaliyeva, has served as the permanent Chair of the Republican Jury and leader of the Kyrgyzstan team. Over the years, other leaders at International and Asian Olympiads included Associate Professors A.S. Tashmamatov, V.Zh. Muratalieva, Senior Lecturers B.B. Baibolotova, A.T. Konushbaeva, and A.R. Muratalieva.

Kyrgyz students participate in two major competitions: the Asian Olympiad (countries include China, India, Singapore, Korea, Russia, etc.) and the International Olympiad, where participants come from all over the world. In addition, the Kyrgyz team participates in the International Zhautykov Physics Olympiad (Kazakhstan), winning prize-winning places.
