Methodical work
Department faculty update their syllabi, generally annually, at least once every two years, and their teaching and methodological materials at least once every two years. The content of the syllabi complies with standards. They outline the prerequisites and postrequisites for the courses. They specify the competencies developed by the course, the skills and abilities acquired by students upon completion, the teaching methods used, the types and formats of classes, the assessment policy, the topics for independent study, and the sources used. The subject syllabi are updated annually.
At the beginning of each semester, after the class schedule has been established, the department's methodologist creates a class schedule for each classroom, which specifies the hours allocated for independent work. The schedule is approved by the laboratory director and the department head. Independent work assignments for the disciplines are accepted according to the schedule.
The department's faculty regularly publishes teaching aids for students, both in hard copy and electronic format. All department computers contain a folder containing all electronic materials for each discipline. All students have access to these documents, but only faculty members can update the files in the folder.
The department is working to develop electronic teaching aids for all disciplines: electronic textbooks, lecture materials, and assignments with instructions for completing them are available. All materials are also posted on the KSTU portal.
Computer-based testing and modular (exam) questions are used in student assessment.
Teaching and methodological kits have been developed for each discipline, containing a work syllabus, syllabus, lecture methodological materials, a glossary, practical and laboratory methodological materials, and materials for organizing and conducting student knowledge assessments (tests and questions). The department has methodological guidelines for solving computational and graphic problems and tests in the disciplines for both full-time and part-time students.
The teaching and methodological kits for each discipline are organized into separate folders and are also posted on the educational portal avn.kstu.kg/lms/Index.aspx, where students log in using their username and password.
