Exploration technology and technique of mineral deposits
In 1996, by the decision of the Kyrgyz Mining and Metallurgical Institute named after Academician Usengazy Asanaliev, based on the order No. 01/205 dated 13.08.1996, the Department of Exploration Geophysics was opened. The opening of the department was due to the fact that with the discovery of many deposits, the need for specialists in the mining industry and scientific and production enterprises of the Kyrgyz Republic increased. The head of the department was Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Bakirov Kalys Berikovich.
The second department, "Technology and Engineering of Exploration of Mineral Deposits," was organized in 2008. In 2009, the department was renamed the Department of Oil and Gas Geology. Senior research fellow, candidate of geological and mineralogical sciences, Amanbek Mambetovich Mambetov was elected head of the department.
In 2017, in order to strengthen and optimize structural divisions, two departments were merged and the Department of Exploration Geophysics, Engineering and Technology of Exploration of Mineral Deposits was formed. In 2021, the department was renamed the Department of Geological Exploration Technology .
According to the order 01/170 dated 27.06.2023, the department was renamed to "Technology and equipment for exploration of mineral deposits". At the moment, the acting head of the department is candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Baykelova Gulmira Shakinovna.
At different periods of time, well-known people in this field worked at the department, such as: Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor Osmonbetov K.O., Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic Turdukulov A.T., and also provided methodological assistance and conducted classes: Candidate of Geological Sciences Penkin N.A., Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Shakirov E.Sh., Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Pogrebnoy V.N., Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Fortuna A.B., senior geophysicists: Yugay N.V., Marinchenko G.G. and others.
The main goal of the department is to train highly qualified specialists in mining engineers and geologists for geological, mining and mining industries. Specialists study the theoretical foundations of geophysical methods, drilling techniques and technologies, and gain practical skills in working with modern geophysical equipment systems, drilling machines and other equipment.
