Historically, the Department of Heat Engineering and Hydraulics was organized in 1956. The first head of the department was appointed candidate of technical sciences, senior researcher. E.A. Naiditsch.
In 1960, Ph.D. was elected to the position of head of the department. E.D. Kostyuchenko.
In 1967, the department of “Heat Engineering and Hydraulics” was divided into two independent departments – “Heat Engineering” and “Hydraulics”.
Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor M.I. was elected head of the department. Shchekoldin.
In 1975, the head of the department was Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor G.V. Volkov.
In 1979, the Department of Heat Engineering was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor A.S. Dzhamanbaev, who put a lot of effort into the technical and aesthetic design of the educational laboratories and department premises.
In 1982, the department held a seminar for teachers of the Heat Engineering departments of the Central Asian region on methods of teaching heat engineering disciplines. The seminar participants noted the high level of methodological equipment existing at the Heat Engineering Department of the Frunze Polytechnic Institute.
Research work carried out by teachers of the department has been developed. The geography of customers has expanded, and the level of research work has increased. The department began to carry out scientific research for enterprises in Kyrgyzstan and the USSR.
The customers were enterprises of the Ministry of Aviation Industry (PO Box A-7840) and the Ministry of Energy of the USSR. The total volume of contractual work increased to 150 thousand rubles. per year. Teachers of the department began to regularly participate in All-Union conferences, submit publications to All-Union and foreign specialized magazines and publications (magazines “Thermal Energy”, “Chemistry of Solid Fuel”, “Air Fleet”, “News of the Freiberg Mining Academy”, etc.).
In 1967, he was transferred to the Frunze Polytechnic Institute, where he worked until 1988 as vice-rector for scientific work, head of the department, and dean of the Faculty of Energy.
Since 1986, the department was headed by Ph.D. tech. Sciences Associate Professor V.I. Sankov, who headed it until the merger with the Department of Life Safety.

The Department of Labor Safety was founded in 1968 by the decision of the Fund's Council. Candidate of Sciences was appointed the first head of the department. tech. Sciences Associate Professor M.B. Boobekov.

Since 1990, the Department of Labor Protection was transformed into the Department of Life Safety.
