“Automation and Robotics,Mechatronics” The Department of Automation and Robotics was founded in 1969. The first enrollment of students in the specialty 0636 "Automation and complex mechanization of the machine-building industry" at the mechanical faculty of the Polytechnic Institute occurred in 1964 (AKM-1-64). The preparation of the specialty was conducted by the department "Metal-cutting machines". The first graduation of mechanical engineers in automation of the specialty AKM (group AKM-1-64) was carried out by the department "Metal-cutting machines". 17 engineers graduated. The department "Automation and complex mechanization of mechanical engineering" was formed by order of the rector Georgy Anishovich Sukhomlinov on December 29, 1969. The first release of engineers at the AKM department was carried out in 1970. Since 1972, the department has been switching to the training of electrical and mechanical engineers according to a new working curriculum. The first graduation of electrical engineers occurred in 1977. The first head of the department of AKM was Annas Poyasovich Muslimov, who worked at the FPI since 1968 at the department of "Metal-cutting machines" after completing his postgraduate studies at the Moscow Machine Tool Institute.
