History


The history of the department dates back to the distant 1958. It was then that the Department of Automobile Roads was created at the Frunze Polytechnic Institute. Its first head - in 1958-1964 - was Ph.D., Assoc. A.V. Herbrut-Geybovich. In 1964, head. the department was Ph.D. A.E. Belsky, who headed it until 1967. The team included at that time: Ph.D., associate professor V.P. Chudnetsov, E.I. Shpagin, K.A. Tyulegenov, G.F. Gaidudinov. In 1967-1968. duties of the head the department was performed by Ph.D., Assoc. V.P. Chudnetsov. In the future, it was led by: from 1968 to 1975 - candidate of technical sciences, associate professor N.N. Voloshenko, from 1975 to 1982 - Ph.D., Assoc. THAT. Abekov, from 1982 to 1983 - teacher. A.N. Ilyin, from 1983 to 1992 - Ph.D., Assoc. M.D. Duishenaliev. In 1992-1995, 1996-2002 and 2003-2005, the department was headed by Ph.D., associate professor R.S. Kartanbaev. In 1995-1996, the duties of the head of the department were performed by Ph.D., associate professor A.T. Turgumbaev.
In 2002, the Department of Roads was transformed into the Department of Roads and Construction Mechanics, which was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, prof. M.D. Kutuev. In 2005, it was transformed into the Department of Highways, Bridges and Tunnels, Ph.D., Associate Professor A.T. Turgumbaev was appointed the head. In 2017, in order to optimize, the departments "Railways" and "Motorways, bridges and tunnels" were merged into the department "Automobile and railways, bridges and tunnels". Since 2006, the department has been headed by Ph.D., Associate Professor A.B. Kurbanbaev. The department has 21 teachers, including 1 doctor of science and 12 candidates of science.
Graduates of the department successfully work in various structures subordinate to the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic, State Enterprise “National Company “Kyrgyz Temir Zholu”, Department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Institute “Kyrgyzdortransproekt”, other enterprises and organizations. A number of them proved to be not only competent specialists, but also skilled managers - they rose to high-ranking leaders: A.U.   The department has formed its own scientific school - a creative team of like-minded people - scientists, teachers, graduate students, applicants who are able to solve high theoretical and scientific and practical problems in the interests of the road industry in Kyrgyzstan. All conditions have been created for fruitful scientific research work. Currently, the department has a modern material and technical base: an educational laboratory, a computer class, classrooms equipped with special equipment. Employees of the department conduct a large research work in many relevant areas; they have published a large number of scientific articles in journals in Kyrgyzstan and abroad. The training of young scientific personnel is carried out through postgraduate studies, doctoral studies and competition. Currently, 13 doctoral students, graduate students and applicants are studying at the department.

           The scientific activity of the department is focused on the theoretical development of optimization and improvement of the transport and operational qualities of roads and railways in difficult conditions of highlands. Scientific and practical work of scientists

important assistance to road builders in making effective decisions in the design, construction and operation of roads and railways.

           The department solved non-standard practical problems. For example, since 2009, at the request of the Narynhydroenergostroy company, a survey and testing of bridges on the Bishkek-Osh highway was carried out to carry out the transportation of excess cargo - the turbine wheel for the Kambar-Ata-2 HPP under construction and the Toktogul HPP, the transportation was successfully completed, and in 2016, the staff of the department conducted a survey and testing of five railway bridges at the southern branch of the State Enterprise "NC Kyrgyz Temir Zholu".

            In recent years, 5 monographs, more than 100 scientific articles and St. 20 teaching aids, 4 invention patents received; more than 15 graduate students and applicants defended their dissertations.
