Methodological Work

Methodological work is a set of activities aimed at providing the educational process with instructional and methodological documentation, improving the pedagogical skills of teachers, enhancing classroom and independent student work, and improving all forms, types, and methods of teaching while taking into account the current state and development prospects of industrial enterprises, organizations, and institutions for which the university prepares specialists.

The main goal of methodological work is to create conditions that contribute to improving the efficiency and quality of the educational process.

Methodological work includes practically all types of activities of the teaching staff, its structural units, and each individual teacher that are aimed at improving the quality of training and education of graduates, enhancing the educational process and its monitoring, improving teachers’ qualifications, and involving them in pedagogically oriented research activities.

Methodological Work at the Department

Methodological work at the department is aimed at improving the teaching of disciplines assigned to the department, optimizing and intensifying the educational process, improving its methodological support, and increasing the pedagogical qualifications of the faculty.

The content of the department’s methodological work is determined by the work plan.

Methodological work at the department is carried out by the teaching staff. Methodological work performed by a teacher within any of its forms (teaching, instructional-methodological, organizational-methodological, research, student educational development) is considered part of their functional duties. This work is planned and recorded in the relevant section of the individual teacher’s work plan. The scope and quality of methodological work serve as one of the main criteria for evaluating a teacher’s performance.

In addition to methodological work directly related to the disciplines taught, teachers may be involved in developing methodological issues of an interdepartmental scale, as well as participating in collegial methodological bodies and methodological activities assigned by higher education administration authorities.

Certain types of work related to methodological support of the educational process are carried out by the department’s support staff, as determined by job descriptions and work plans.

Methodological work at the department is supervised by the Head of the Department, who is responsible for its condition — effectiveness and quality, as well as the level of organization and support of the educational process.

The department’s methodological work includes:

  • defining the main directions of methodological work;
  • developing a unified approach and optimal solutions to methodological issues of the department;
  • preparing the department’s methodological work plan;
  • analyzing the state of the educational process and all types of methodological work and developing recommendations for improving teaching content, forms, and methods;
  • implementing methodological recommendations developed by the department and the faculty methodological council;
  • developing and improving core educational programs for bachelor training and curricula;
  • conducting initial reviews and discussions of teachers’ methodological materials;
  • monitoring the implementation of the department’s methodological work plan and teachers’ individual plans;
  • organizing open classes and mutual class observations;
  • planning and organizing editorial and publishing activities of the department;
  • assisting teachers in carrying out methodological work;
  • collecting, analyzing, and summarizing proposals to improve methodological work;
  • preparing reports, presentations, and reference materials on methodological work issues.

The work of the department’s methodological group is planned for the academic year. The work plan is approved by the Head of the Department after coordination with the Chair of the Faculty Methodological Council.

Methodological Work of Teachers

Ultimately, the department’s methodological work is based on the work of individual teachers, including the Head of the Department.

A teacher’s methodological work is planned by the Head of the Department for the academic year and reflected in the teacher’s individual plan. Its content includes elements of all types of methodological work, and its volume, structure, and specific content are determined by the teacher’s official position.
