Department of Applied Mathematics, KSTU named after. I. Razzakova was formed on September 30, 2004 (Order No. 63). In September 2014, in connection with the reorganization of the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Department of Applied Mathematics and Informatics (hereinafter referred to as “API”) was created. By order of the rector 1/135 dated September 1, 2022, in connection with giving KSTU a special status and reorganization, the department of “Applied Mathematics and Informatics” included the department of the same name at KSUST.

The department is headed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Honored Education Worker of the Kyrgyz Republic, Academician of the Engineering Academy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Engineering M. J. Dzhamanbaev.

On the basis of licenses for the right to conduct educational activities in the field of higher professional education, the department implements the following educational programs:

preparation of bachelors in the direction 510200 “Applied mathematics and computer science”. - profile "Applied mathematics and computer science";
- profile "Analysis and processing of big data". Form of study - full-time, full-time, duration of study - 4 years (on the basis of 11th grade), 3 years (on the basis of secondary vocational education). The A&OBD direction will cover such subjects as: machine learning, deep learning of neural networks, text data analysis. The direction is open as part of participation in the ELBA project.
preparation of masters in the direction 510200 “Applied mathematics and computer science”. Master's program "Mathematical Modeling". Form of study - full-time, full-time, duration of study - 2 years;
preparation of bachelors in the direction 580500 “Business Informatics”. Profile "Electronic business". Form of study - full-time, full-time, duration of study - 4 years (on the basis of 11th grade), 3 years (on the basis of secondary vocational education). - part-time, duration of study - 5 years (4 years of study - on the basis of secondary vocational education)
          The department has a highly professional teaching staff, which includes 2 doctors of physical and mathematical sciences, professors; 3 candidates of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professors; 12 senior teachers; 3 teachers. In order to implement the transfer of science and production into education, teachers from the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and from enterprises such as ULUT Soft LLC group of companies, Golden Drinks CJSC, etc. are invited to teach specialized disciplines.

The department's research work is carried out on two topics: Methods for identifying and implementing a mathematical model of the moisture transfer process (headed by M. Dzhamanbaev), Mathematical modeling of landslide displacements (headed by M. Dzhamanbaev). The teachers of the department are applicants and graduate students. Candidate's theses are defended on the basis of scientific research by young scientists.
