Institute was established in October 2012 on the faculty base of the Moscow Power Institute and Kyrgyz State Technical University (MEI- KSTU) and former branch of the Baltic State Technical University “Voenmech”, St. Petersburg, named after D. Ustinov.
The reasons for its creation were memoran- dum and Agreement between the Ministries of Education and Science of Russia and Kyrgyzstan on the establishing Consortium of technical universities. These documents were signed by twelve leading technical Universities of Russia and four Kyrgyz Universities.
The first two-years students can study at KSTU. Then they can be transferred to continue their education in the Russian universities – members of the Consortium: National Research Tomsk Poly- technic University (NRTPU), National Research University (Moscow Power Engineering Institute), Baltic State Technical University \»VOENMECH\», Russia University of People Friendship (RUDN), State Technical University—MADI, Moscow State Mining University, St. Peters- burg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, Pacific State University, Altai State University, Astrahan State University, Mos- cow State University of economics, statistics and informatics.
Students have opportunity to study on the budget form of education, complete postgraduate courses with employment in the Kyrgyz Republic and Russian Federa- tion. There is a great opportunity to enter the Masters courses in terms of the Univer- sity of Shanghai Cooperation Organizati- on (SCO) and postgraduate programs into Russian Universities.
Education is financed by the federal budget of the Russian Federation with the payment of a stipend and providing ac- commodation of the university.
Baltic State Technical University \»VOEN- MECH\» is the bright representative of Russian engineering school which could maintain and increase achievements in domestic and international engineering education. During 75-year, University trained more than 60,000 first-class professionals for the defense industry and national economy. Many of them manage compa- nies, enterprises. University was founded in 1932 as the Leningrad Military Mechanical Institute.
In 1997, it was renamed to the Bal- tic State Technical University \»VOENMECH\» named after D. F. Ustinov. In Bishkek BSTU “Voenmech” na- med after by D.F. Ustinov was established by the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation in 2003. Since September, 2011 BSTU “Voenmech” has been integrated into KSTU. It has be- come a department of joint educational programs realization.
