Technological Faculty development and major events

• On the basis of KSTU named after I. Razzakov under a World Bank grant ($ 1.5 million), it was created the Technological Center for Food and Processing Industry that it is the first and only in Central Asia.  It is one of the most up-to-date educational institutions in the vocational education system. It designed to train students and improve the specialists’ skills in the food and processing industries;

• Under the GIZ program “Vocational Education in Central Asia” together with partners from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Germany, the model educational programs for bachelor degree and master in the field of “Technology and food production of animal origin” were developed and accredited by the German accreditation agency ACQUIN. Graduates of these programs can be employed in 40 countries of the world that have joined the Bologna process and continue their education in more than 100 universities in the near and far abroad. The development of a PhD program has begun;

• On the basis of KSTU named after I. Razzakov the Technology Transfer Center was created.  It was supported by GIZ. The main goal of the center is to strengthen cooperation between the private sector, science and educational institutions and the introduction of new technologies. The Center’s partner is the Producers Association of Fortified Flour and Bread (APOMiH).  On the basis of the center, the dual education system is organized for students of the educational program “Technology of Bread, Pasta and Confectionery”. In 2018 there is the agreement “On the organization of the department branch. “Technology of food production” between KSTU and APOMIH.

• The project “Higher Education for Food Systems and Standards in Central Asia” (HECAFS) No. 574005-EPP-1-2016-1-LV-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP (manager D.A. Kodzhegulova) is being successfully implemented as part of the project. Teachers have improved their professional skills in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland in the field of food technology and food safety. They have acquired knowledge, experience and skills of European teachers. In the spring of 2019, teachers’ master class from three foreign universities is scheduled for the teachers’ staff of KSTU.  Also English course are held;

• According to the European teachers’ recommendations the training modules for students of the direction “Technology and food production from vegetable raw materials” were updated; about 135 students will participate in a pilot training in spring of 2019; the staff competence has been improved. The project consortium includes 2 universities of Kyrgyzstan, 2 universities of Tajikistan, 3 universities of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. The cooperation and share experiences take place in this plan.

• Department “Technology canning” received equipment worth over 2 million soms. Equipment and devices (Monocular microscope B-151, Dry air thermostat IF30, Steam sterilizer UTKBS-50V, etc.) were obtained under the project “Higher Education for Food Production Systems and Standards” (HECAFS). Modern microbiology laboratory was opened by the Erasmus + project format in this department;

• Laboratories of “Materials Science”, “Technology of garments” of the department “Technology products of light industry”, the  faculty computer classes are equipped with modern equipment and software which allow for quality training of technologists and designers for light industry;

 • Co-financed by the Switzerland Government and KSTU named after I. Razzakov under the MTA project, work is underway to create a Training Center for light industry;

• The first Training Restaurant in the Republic is being created at the department of “Public catering products technology”.
