KSTU Student to Represent Kyrgyzstan at the International “Trajectory of Discoveries” Forum

Alena Zaikova, a second-year student at the Institute of Power Engineering of the I. Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU), Group TB-2-25, has won an international competitive selection and will represent Kyrgyzstan at the scientific and educational forum for young compatriots, “Trajectory of Discoveries.”

The forum will take place from September 29 to October 4, 2026, in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod. More than 300 participants from 35 countries took part in the international selection, with 45 winners from 31 countries selected as a result.

As part of the competition, participants were required to prepare a series of seven popular science cards highlighting achievements in Russian science. Alena presented a project titled “Russia in Space,” focusing on black holes, contemporary astrophysics research, and the contribution of Russian scientists to the development of this field.

The forum’s program includes lectures by leading scientists and experts, master classes, science quizzes, excursions, and meetings with members of the scientific community.

Alena Zaikova also actively participates in other international scientific and educational projects. From August 18 to 28, 2026, she took part in the international scientific and educational expedition “Science Adventure: Women and Glaciers in Central Asia,” held in the Ala-Archa Gorge and at Golubina Glacier.

During the expedition, participants studied glaciology, ecology, and hydrology, as well as the impact of climate change on high-altitude ecosystems. Together with her team, Alena conducted a scientific experiment examining how different surface types — ice, small rocks, and red algae — affect the rate of glacier melting. The participants formulated a hypothesis, conducted observations and measurements, and then presented their findings to specialists for discussion.

On September 29, Alena Zaikova will travel to Moscow, after which the program will continue in Nizhny Novgorod. Throughout the forum, the KSTU student will take part in scientific, educational, cultural, and outreach activities, representing Kyrgyzstan at an international youth platform.
