Professional Development Course: “Financial Autonomy of Universities in Kyrgyzstan”

On April 17, 2026, a professional development course titled “Financial Autonomy of Universities in Kyrgyzstan” was held in Bishkek at Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov (KSTU).

The event took place from 09:00 to 16:00 at the Skills Development Center (Room 1/331, main building of KSTU).

The course was organized by the Department of Science and Professional Development of KSTU in cooperation with the working group team of the “DEFA” project.

The course was moderated by Burul Tashtobaeva, Academic Secretary and Professor at KSTU named after I. Razzakov.

Participants included financial managers, specialists from planning and economic departments, as well as staff from quality assurance units of educational institutions.

The course program focused on developing modern approaches to financial management in higher education institutions and included the study of international ESG standards and practices for their implementation in universities.

As part of the program:

  • participants became familiar with the criteria of international ESG standards;
  • explored mechanisms for implementing ESG approaches in university operations;
  • took part in group work and discussions;
  • completed pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate knowledge acquisition.

The expert and trainer was Venera Omuralieva, an expert of the “DEFA” project.

Upon completion of the course, participants were awarded professional development certificates.

The event was aimed at enhancing the professional competencies of specialists in financial management and promoting the development of financial autonomy of universities in Kyrgyzstan in line with international standards.
