From January 16 to 20, 2023, at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science and with the support of the National Erasmus + Office in Kyrgyzstan, a winter school was held on the basis of the Kyrgyz-Korean Information Access Center of KSTU named after I. Razzakov “How to write and publish an article in a journal indexed in the database Scopus 2023, which was attended by doctoral students, young researchers and university professors with a special status.

The lessons were taught by guest speakers with extensive experience in participating in scientific research and publishing their results in popular international journals. U. Tynaliev, PhD of the University of Minnesota (USA) and at the same time Associate Professor of Ala-Too International University, acted as the main trainer-facilitator.

The program was focused on mastering the practice of writing a research article and its subsequent publication in an indexed journal. The participants were provided with the key concepts of the research methodology, its organization in a specific direction, and also proposed the possible structure of the article, the design of the study (experimental or non-experimental), the methodology for sampling the project plan, collecting and analyzing data.

During the training, students acquired the basic knowledge and skills necessary to understand the research process and its implementation using quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods, and familiarized themselves with the procedure for preparing a manuscript for publication.

They also practiced data analysis using Stata and SPSS software programs and presented their achievements.

Note that the work of the winter school is organized in 3 stages:

1st stage - a seminar / training on quantitative and qualitative research methods, the expected result of which should be the writing of a "research proposal" for the specialization profile and sending it to mentors (deadline: end of February 2023).

Stage 2 - presentation of the "research proposal" (online communication format is allowed), discussion and development of relevant proposals and feedback (term: March-June 2023).

Stage 3 - writing a scientific article by each participant with the possibility of online or offline discussion formats with mentors (term: July-November 2023).
