Project Greenkg: Green University at Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov

March 13 within the walls of the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after. I. Razzakova hosted the event “Green University and why students need eco-awareness”

The event was held as part of the Greenkg project, aimed at developing a model of a green and digital university in Kyrgyzstan. The project is carried out with the participation of 14 partners, including 12 universities from Kyrgyzstan and 2 foreign universities, and is funded by the Erasmus+ program.

Students of the POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE, IIT, EI, KSTI, as well as representatives of the Kyrgyz Agrarian University took an active part in this event.

The opening speech was made by the Director of the Institute of Information Technologies, G. J. Kabaeva. She emphasized that preventing the environmental crisis is possible through changing the value system and using accumulated knowledge to form an environmental culture of the younger generation.

Deputy Director of the Energy Institute, B. S. Zhapakova, explained the concept of eco-awareness, noting the importance of reasonable and economical consumption to preserve the planet’s resources.

The students were shown a documentary film “The Sky of Our Childhood” directed by Suyuma Sulaymanova, in which experts discussed the causes of smog in Bishkek and its impact on the health of city residents. After watching the film, students asked many questions to the filmmakers, showing interest in environmental issues.

Participation in such events contributes to the formation of an active citizenship among students, armed with knowledge about environmental problems and practical skills in working to protect it. Involving students in such events is a key stage in the formation of their environmental culture.
